WSM INFORMATION AT YOUR FINGER TIPS!
Vol. 1 Issue 003

Westwood’s Student Ministry plays a critical role in nurturing students in grades 5-12 to experience a dynamic love relationship with Jesus Christ. We are motivated to reach out to them with the same eagerness God has in reaching out to us by accepting students where they are—no strings attached! Our professional and volunteer staff model the journey of faith and life in Christ and encourage students to journey further in their own relationship with God, understanding that each student is in a unique place. Students are free to ask questions, challenge answers and experience God personally and honestly.

In 1995, when the church started, our first WSM staff was part-time and worked with middle school students (grades 7-9). Wanting to have a ministry for middle school students to grow into the church added an additional part-time staff person to work with high school students (grades 10-12) in 1996. Since then the Student Ministry has included 5th – 6th graders to its ministry area. Through the years we’ve expressed ministry together through global mission’s trips, local service projects, fall retreats and winter retreats, summer camps, student leadership, small groups, and great teaching. No matter the venue the WSM has committed to engaging students into something that is real and meaningful in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Many students have brought their friends who don’t have a home church because they feel confident that their experience will be worthwhile. We have learned a lot about student culture; how it shifts and what remains. We still desire to provide a safe, compelling and sincere experience so that young souls may understand who God is and how much he loves them with no strings attached. Our staff and volunteers are patient and caring and continue to help us grow into the future.
